The former governor of Abia State, Senator Representing Abia North and Chief Whip of the Senate, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu was recently convicted of laundering the sum of 7. 65 billion naira last week by Justice Mohammed Idris.
The crime was committed while he was the governor of Abia State between 1999 to 2007. He was sentenced to jail alongside his former director of finance Mr. Jones Ude.
But the former is not poor. He has made money even before he became governor of Abia State in 1999. His 400 room mansion he built in his home town Igbere in 1998 before he became governor in 1999 speaks for him.
