Makinde Presents N208.8bn Budget Proposal to Oyo Assembly - Western Post News

Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has presented N208.8 billion as Budget Proposal for the 2020 Fiscal Year before the state House of Assembly.
The breakdown of the 2020 budget proposal has infrastructure as the highest percentage allocation of about 23.93 per cent of the total sum.
This is followed by Education which has 22.37per cent. The other areas which have been prioritised in the 2020 budget proposal are Healthcare at 5.18 per cent and Agriculture at 4.43per cent of the total budget proposal.
WESTERN POST gathered that in the budget proposal, capital expenditure increased by about 20 per cent compared to the 2019 budget. Total capital expenditure of N100.14 billion, represents 47.9 per cent of the total budget estimate.
According to Makinde, the budget captures aspirations of the people of the state in terms of development and quality governance.
He said, “It is a budget that captures the aspirations of the good people of Oyo State. 2020 budget is for every woman, man, and child in Oyo State can relate to and be proud of.”
“It is a budget in keeping with our Roadmap for Accelerated Development in Oyo State from 2019 to 2023.
Makinde made the points in the presence of traditional rulers and other government functionaries.
“On infrastructure, the governor adds, “that projects such as “Light Up Ibadan” project, the installed Smart LED Street Lights in Ibadan will be replicated across the major towns and cities in Oyo State.”
He also added that the government will also procure new fire fighting vehicles, ambulances, water tankers and communication equipment, adding that the present administration is determined to make life meaningful to people of the state.
In his speech at the special plenary, the Speaker of the Assembly, Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin described the 2020 budget proposal as all inclusive with priority on Infrstructure, Education, Health Agriculture and many more,  which would  bring an all round development into the state.
“It is the  Budget of Reality for the people of Oyo State and we sincerely believe it  will bring great development to the people and the state as a whole.”
While urging ministries to respond promptly to the budget exercise, Honourable Ogundoyin assured the people of speedy passage of the budget in order to have a new working budget in 2020, just as he thanked members of the house for their contributions.
Members of the Assembly during their contributions described the budget as a  very good development that will have direct and positive impacts in the lives of people of the state.
