The national home furnishings chain Bob's Discount Furniture confirmed Tuesday its plans to open a store this summer in the former Bed Bath & Beyond location in Hanes Point shopping center in Winston-Salem.

The center, off Hanes Mall Boulevard, has Target and Kohl's as its main anchors.

Depending on how quickly the chain moves into the Hanes Point store, it could be its first open location in North Carolina.

"The company has a number of stores opening in the region and is excited to see which opens first, but they don’t know that detail at the moment," according to a statement.

The store is expected to have between 18 and 20 jobs. The initial hiring focus is on management positions before shifting to sales and product support positions in mid-May. Job listings can be found at https://careers.mybobs.com.

The chain, founded in 1991 and based in Manchester, Conn., has more than 190 stores in 24 states, but until now its only presence in the Southeast has been in Virginia.

Although Bob's Discount Furniture focuses on low- to middle-end home furnishings, it offers a wide variety of products including living room and dining room furniture and bedding.

According to its website, the retailer is "known for its no-frills shopping experience, straightforward pricing and in-store café offering complimentary refreshments."
