Invincible Season 3 Cut A Major Comic Hero From Cecil's Origin Story
Feb 26, 2025
Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Invincible season 3, episode 3!
Invincible season 3 finally unveiled Cecil Stedman's origin story to those unfamiliar with the comic books, but the series adaptation managed to cut one major character from the source material. Amazon Prime Video's Invincible series has been shockingly accurate to the source material, with very few comic changes being made to Invincible seasons 1 and 2. However, things have begun to depart a bit further as Invincible season 3 has rolled out, with the new batch of episodes offering a litany of major changes, including completely cutting one important character from Cecil's origin story.
Invincible sesaon 3 still focuses on Mark Grayson, but it has also given a greater focus to GDA Director Cecil Stedman than ever before. Invincible season 3 has mostly focused on the ideological battle between Cecil and Mark, with Mark disagreeing with Cecil's usage of former killers like D.A. Sinclair and Darkwing. Meanwhile, Cecil feels as if these actions are necessary to protect Earth. Invincible season 3 uses Cecil's backstory to frame how Cecil has become this way, and while it is relatively similar to the comic book series, there is one massive difference.
