Ruto allies abandoning his camp in droves. Duale’s Fate sealed After ODM Insists on a complete overhaul.
May. 18, 2020
Desperate situations call for desperate measures. National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale amused many when he changed his social media profile photos to new ones showing him standing alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The photo updated on both his Facebook and Twitter accounts was taken back in 2018 and show the vocal Garissa MP standing on the right-hand side of the president who was wearing military fatigue.
Duale’s move has been interpreted by political observers and many of his followers as a strategy to assert his support for the president, perhaps to avoid being ousted from the powerful position he holds in the National Assembly.
He is not alone. Another of Ruto’s lieutenants, nominated legislator David Ole Sankok, infamous for his blithering tongue also stunned his followers when he updates his Facebook profile photo, carefully selecting one in which he was captured with Uhuru.
However, it appears as if this last-minute change of heart is not convincing after all. President Uhuru Kenyattas fumigation exercise might just sweep Hon. Duale by the side after it was alleged that ODM insisted on a complete overhaul of the house leadership in order to implement president Uhuru’s agenda.
The ODM Party insistence is informed by lack of trust on Hon. Duale and the possibility of scuttling the president’s agenda should he remain as the majority leader.
The other possible casualty of Jubilees onslaught is the senates deputy speaker Prof. Kithure Kindiki, national assembly chief Whip Hon. Bernard Washali and Nominated senator, Hon. Millie Omanga.
Members of parliament from the Rift Valley region are rumored to have visited Hon. Gideon Mois residence in Kabarak in an effort to save their jobs. It appears that as the saying goes, “everyman for himself, God for us all” is becoming reality.
Following last Tuesday purge of allies of Deputy President in the Senate which saw the Elgeyo Marakwet representative Kipchumba Murkomen and his Nakuru counterpart Susan Kihika replaced as Leader of Majority and Chief Whip, respectively, talk has been rife that the next stop will be the National Assembly.
