Dec. 03, 2019
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers praised Kelechi Iheanacho for his man-of-the-match display in their 2-1 comeback win over Everton on Sunday.
The Nigeria international scored a stoppage-time goal to help the hosts secure maximum points at the King Power Stadium after assisting Jamie Vardy for their equaliser in the 68th minute.
The goal increased the 23-year-old’s tally to three goals in three matches this season, including two efforts in the League Cup.
At the end of the game, Rodgers expressed satisfaction with Iheanacho’s contribution in his first Premier League appearance this season, saying it is a reward of his hard work behind the scenes.
“I was so pleased for him because there’s him and a number of other guys that don’t feature so much and sometimes [they’re] not even on the bench,” Rodgers told club website.
“But that’s a result of how hard he works and he stays focused. He’s very much there for the team and I think he showed his quality today.
“His set-up play was very good when he came into the game, he was aggressive, he was strong, and he had an assist and then he scored a wonderful goal, so it was a brilliant.”
