Why Atwoli Is A Danger To The Country
Nov. 07, 2019
Amani National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Barrack Muluka has bashed Central Organization of Trade Unions (Cotu) Secretary General Francis Atwoli, terming him one of the people making life hard for Kenyans.
In an indirect shot at the vocal trade unionist on Wednesday, Muluka suggested that Atwoli is among the few Kenyans making themselves rich at the expense of the remainder of Kenyans.
He pointed out that Atwoli's appearance is in itself a demonstration that he is living large, in reference to his expensive jewellery, which he claimed is made of the the gold metal.
"There are a few people who are experts and we see them walking around in gold jewellery. When they attend television shows they throw away their phones to show us how rich they are. These are the people dangerous to this country (Kuna watu wachache wenye umahiri, na tunawaona wakitembea huku wamevaa mikufu ya dhahabu. Wakienda kwenye televisheni simu zao wanazitupa kutuonyesha jinsi walivyotajirika. Hawa ndio watu hatari kwa nchi hii)," he said.
Muluka made the remarks in an interview on Radio Jambo on Wednesday morning, only weeks after Atwoli threw away his expensive phone during a live interview on TV.
Ironically, Atwoli is the man who in 2016, declared Muluka's boss and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi the strongest politician in Luhya land, a declaration that was made at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega county.
However, he has not been happy with Luhya politicians, accusing them of unwillingness to unite, and bashing others for following Deputy President William Ruto around.
