Humans And Pets
Dec 3, 2020
Animals have both negative and positive effects to human beings. Having pets is good as it relieves stress and depression. Pets such as dogs and cats help humans so much. Dogs have a high sense of smell and therefore are used for security because they can easily track danger and alert people. Also dogs are used by police officers to rescue victims after a disaster has struck. They can smell and help rescue alot of people. Cats as well help alot when you have them in your compound. They help kill poisonous animals such as snakes that can harm children or even adults in the compound. They also help kill rodents that destroy our cereals.
As much as animals help us physically and psychologically, they also have negative effects. Dogs when not controlled well, can cause severe injuries to children at home. They harm by biting and can even kill little children in absence of an adult person. Dogs are also a major reservoir for zoonotic infections. Dogs transmit several viral and bacterial diseases to humans. Zoonotic diseases can be transmitted to human by infected saliva, contaminated urine or feces and direct contact with the dog.
Cats also are dangerous; they can cause sprains on humans by their claws. When they are left with children, they cause more harm than good. Having such pets at home, requires careful attention to avoid injuries. Dogs can be injected with vaccine to reduce the infections they can pass to humans. These pets can also be disinfected once in a while as some may carry pests in their fur on their bodies.
