Armed Robbers Set Ablaze By Angry Citizens In Oyo State

Angry citizens set three armed robbers Wednesday 29 July, on fire after a failed bank robbery attack that occurred at first bank, Okeho, Kajola LGA of Oyo State.
According to the news men, News Agency of Nigeria, the robbers, were armed with riffles and dynamite, they made efforts to rob the bank in Okeho but could not due to the efforts made by the police and hunters to stop them.
According to SP Olugbenga Fadeyi, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, that the robbery incident occurred at about 5pm on Wednesday 29 July.
"The robbers enter the premises with a white 18-seater bus with the intention to rob the bank.
The robbers made their way into the bank and use dynamite and Ak-47 riffles to pass through the bank security door.
The police and hunters made a good effort by overwhelming the robbers. In the process of escaping the 18-seater bus summersaulted and the three robbers were apprehended by angry citizens around and the were set ablaze".
Further investigation is still going on to apprehend members of the robbers who escaped.
According Fadeyi, he said the commissioner of police urge every citizens around the community to be vigilant during this period.
He urged the good people of the state to go about their lawful businesses without any fear of molestation or threat from any quarters, saying the police are on top of the situation. (NAN)
