Pictures Of Why Uyo City Is The Best City In South-South.
Jul 5, 2020
Akwa Ibom is a major oil-producing state in the country and some of these oil well and companies are located here in Uyo which is undoubtedly the most popular of the local government area in Akwa Ibom and arguably the biggest of them all. This part of the city is famous for its oil producing exploits and considered one of the best tourist attractions in the south-south of Nigeria.
Uyo is the state capital of Akwa Ibom, in South South Nigeria. The city became the capital of the state on September 23, 1987 following the creation of Akwa Ibom State from erstwhile Cross River State.
Fortunately, the city is blessed with arable land and favourable climate that supports all year-round cultivation and extraction of agricultural and forest products such as palm produce, rubber, cocoa, rice, cassava, yam, plantain, banana, maize, and timber.
Akwa Ibom falls within the tropical zone with a dominant vegetation of green foliage of trees and shrubs. It constitutes a major chunk of the nation’s oil-palm belt. The Atlantic coastline stretches 129km from Oron in the East to Ikot Abasi in the West. The State also has three distinct vegetation zones: the saline water swamp forest, the fresh water swamp forest and the rain forest.
The leisure and convenience is one great reason to visit as such quietness and peace is found in this city and in the state at large. The area is not a volatile one that is prone to bouts of violence and aggression. The roads are good and free of constant traffic and ‘go-slow’. In minutes, you can transport yourself to the different areas of the city with little stress on like a popular city in Nigeria.
