The Kano State House of Assembly has set up committee to investigate Emir Muhammadu Sanusi ii over alleged violation of Kano traditional, cultural norms and values and Islamic religious tenant abuses.
The committee on public petition was compelled to investigate a petition submitted before the house by an association and an individual over the attitude and character of the emir which they claimed was in dispute to the culture and religion.
The move has been viewed by many as a ploy by the State Government to remove the Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi ii from his throne.
According to the Committee Chairman, Namasu, the petitioners are accusing Emir Muhammadu Sanusi ii of alleged violation of Kano Cultural, Traditional norms and values and Islamic Religious tenants.
The committee, headed by the Deputy Speaker, Hamisu Chidare, has been given one week to investigate and submit its reports as well as recommend appropriate actions after extensive deliberation by the House.
