I Left My Village for Accra Because I Had No Hope Back Home – Fella Makafui
Jul 14, 2020
Fella Makafui is a Ghanaian actress who came into the limelight by playing the role of a bread seller with poor command on the English language in the popular teen reproductive health series YOLO. Fella’s rise to fame could also be linked to her association to rapper Medikal and eventual marriage, and rivalry with the latter’s ex-girlfriend Deborah Vanessa Owusu Bonsu, known in showbiz circles as Sister Debbie.
In a new documentary, the actress narrates the struggles she had to face to get to where she is today. She disclosed that she one day decided to leave her hometown in the Volta region for Accra where she believed she would achieve her dreams of becoming a refined and famous actress. Her mother did not object to this decision.
Fella who before coming to the capital city had been playing roles in plays performed by her High school revealed that, before landing her role in YOLO, she wandered from one producer to the other and nearly lost hope of ever making it to her dreams. Her breakthrough finally came after she was introduced to the producer of YOLO, and even though the role of the bread seller was not what she had wanted, she gave it her best and that was what shot her to fame.
