Umar M Shareef: Just 21 years old, but already a Music icon and Kannywood Superstar

Umar Mohammad Shareef who is also known as Umar M Shareef is one of the youngest celebrities in the northern part of Nigeria. He is a top Hausa musician whose genre of music which are usually sung in Hausa ranges from Afro beat, R&B, Afro Pop, hip hop to Reggae. He is also an 'A' list Kannywood actor who has featured in many high budget movies. The young entrepreneur is a movie producer who produces movies and songs through his production outfit known as Shareef Studios Investment Limited. He was born on 10th February 1999 in Rigasa, Igabi Local Government area of Kaduna State and did both his primary and secondary educations in his home state. The young millionaire is married and has three children. He was a music buff during his secondary school days who was in love with the music of great artistes. He composed many songs which he could not record due to lack of fund, but he refused to give up until his elder brother's friend who noticed his music potentials decided to wade in, by assisting him financially to record his first song in 2017. The recording of his first song thereby marks his entry into the world of entertainment and the first step of his match to greatness,as he has continued to make exploits in the Hausa music Industry with his hit songs. As at year 2020, he has released over 500 songs and has featured great artistes such as Korede Bello whom he featured in his 2019 hit single titled "Sabada". His hit single titled "Hafeez" was No 1 on the top ten chart of Hausa hip hop songs for the most part of 2019. He is also involved in the singing of movie songs for high profile Hausa movies such as the movie "Rariya" which featured Rahama Sadau and some top Kannywood actors.
In the sphere of acting, Umar M Shareef made his colourful entry into acting in 2017, when he starred in a blockbuster movie titled "Mansoor" which was directed by the king of Kannywood Ali Nuhu. The story of the movie is about two students (Mansoor and Maryam) who became lovers and because of the deep love they have for each other, some of their colleagues in school decided to bully Maryam in the presence of her boyfriend, Mansoor who stood his ground to defend her. Mansoor's, courage and love for Maryam through his action endeared him to Maryam's family members except Maryam's brother who disapproved of the relationship based on the ground that Mansoor's identity is questionable in view of the fact that he is an adopted son of his parents and that as such he would not want his sister to marry a person whose identity is unknown. In fact, the movie, "Mansoor" was a hit movie because it was one of the top ten Kannywood movies of 2017. It is therefore not surprising that the popularity of Umar M Shareef soared astronomically with the release of the movie. The singer/actor has since then featured in many high profile movies, the most recent of which is the 2019 movie titled "Hafeez" where he acted alongside great Kannywood actors and actresses such as Ali Nuhu, Maryam Yahaya and others. He also featured in another high profile 2019 movie titled "Sadauki" which starred Adam A Zango, Fati Washa, Rashida Lobbo and Isa Adams.
Umar M Shareef is a recipient of many awards, prominent among them are : 2016 Kannywood Award for Best Music category in the song "Uba da Uwa", 2017 City People Entertainment Award for Best Kannywood New Actor of the year category and 2018 Nollywood Award for Best Actor Leading Role category.
The singer/actor has huge Instagram followers with which he uses in connecting fans, friends and his colleagues in Kannywood and others. He is also active on Twitter and Facebook.
There is no gainsaying the fact that Umar M Shareef is a very popular singer, actor and movie producer who has come to establish his firm grip on the Hausa music scene, the Hausa movie Industry and the Nigerian entertainment Industry as a whole.
