Ahead of the 2019 U17 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria will take part in the UEFA/CAF World Cup preparation tournament in Istanbul, Turkey.
The Eaglets have been placed in the same group (Group A) as Turkey, Senegal and Guatemala for the tournament.
The tournament, which is strictly by invitation and a test of the team’s form ahead of the world cup, is scheduled to hold between September 20-28.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced the Eaglets’ participation in a tweet on their official Twitter handle.
The competition is organized as part of the team’s preparation for the FIFA U17 World Cup in Brazil.
This is the second time the Golden Eaglets will be visiting Turkey; the first was before the 2019 U17 African Cup of Nations in Tanzania, where they qualified for the World Cup in Brazil.
The 18th edition of the FIFA U17 World Cup will kick-off on October 26 and end on November 17, 2019.
The five-time world champions will take on Hungary in their opening group B match at the Estadio Olimpico Pedro Ludovico.
Australia and Ecuador are the other opponents in the Eaglets group.
