A former minority leader at the Senate, Biodun Olujimi, on Sunday, September 8, gave details of her effort in ensuring that Kayode Fayose emerged governor of Ekiti state.
The Nation reports that Olujimi said she played an unforgettable role in ensuring Fayose's emergence as governor in both his first and second tenure.
Olujimi who spoke through her spokesperson, Bunmi Olugbade, said her influence and support for Fayose was unfettered at that time.
“I played unforgettable role in Fayose emergence as Ekiti governor. I helped Fayose back to the party. I was going to contest the governorship before he came. When he came, he could not come into the party, the party said no way; He came to me and said please, help, let’s work together. Let me come back into the party, if we win and then, you will determine what you want," Olujimi said.
She also narrated how the past governor came to her to beg for support prior to joining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
She said at that time, she deployed all available resources and also mobilised votes at the polls to ensure Fayose's victory.
Olujimi said: “But for him to now come out and say I made Olujimi this and that is a blantant falsehood."
“We are both benefactor to each other. Although I was nominated under him as party candidate for Senate. But before then I played a significant role in ensuring his emergence as the party flag bearer in the first and second term," Olujimi added.
Kayode Fayemi said his predecessor signed the state budget of N129.9 billion into law before leaving office.
