Houthi Rebels Allegedly STRIKE U. S. Aircraft Carrier, Warships In The Red Sea Amid Escalating Hostilities
Apr 3, 2025
The Iranian- backed Houthi rebels have once again claimed responsibility for an attack on the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier and its accompanying warships in the Red Sea. This latest development adds to the growing list of hostilities between the Houthis and U. S. military forces since President Donald Trump authorized military action against the group on March 15.
Despite the Houthis' claims, the U. S. Navy has not reported any damage to the carrier or its fleet. In response to these ongoing threats, American airstrikes continue to target Houthi positions in Yemen, particularly in and around the capital, Sanaa, and near the strategically significant Hudaydah Port.
The Houthis, officially known as Ansar Allah, have launched numerous attacks on vessels navigating the Red Sea, a critical global trade corridor. Since the outbreak of the Israel- Hamas war in Gaza in October 2023, the Houthis have intensified their operations, framing them as acts of solidarity with the Palestinian cause. Their attacks have primarily targeted merchant ships, but recent strikes against U. S. military assets indicate a potential shift in their strategy.
In a statement released on Telegram, the Houthis claimed that their naval, missile, and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) forces had engaged the USS Harry S. Truman in a prolonged assault using cruise missiles and drones. They also stated that part of the attack on Yemen had been thwarted.
