Brandon Williams: Why Former Manchester United Star Faces Two Years in Prison
Apr 1, 2025
Former Manchester United left-back Brandon Williams faces a potential two-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to dangerous driving.
According to the report from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), the footballer was seen driving at high speeds and in an erratic manner in an Audi A3 on the A34 near Handforth, Cheshire, on August 20, 2023.
The 24-year-old was treated at a hospital for his injuries before being taken to the Middlewich custody suite, where he later pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving without third-party insurance.
This offence carries a maximum sentence of up to two years in prison.
What the prosecutor said
As per BBC news Andrew Madden, a senior prosecutor at the Crown Prosecution Service, said Williams' driving that day was far below the standard of a safe and responsible driver.
Experts found that he was driving at 99mph just four seconds before crashing into the Ford Fiesta.
"Williams was seen accelerating and braking sharply multiple times, making it clear he wasn't in control of the vehicle," said Andrew Madden, senior prosecutor at the Crown Prosecution Service. "His driving was dangerously erratic, and his speed was far beyond safe limits. Eventually, he lost control and crashed."
