BT has issued a SECOND statement after an outage on Saturday morning left customers unable to use email. Reports on Saturday morning on outage-tracking site Downdetector showed a peak of more than 5,000 complaints from customers.
In a statement, BT has apologised to impacted customers and said it is "investigating the cause". Other services including Broadband, TV and mobile packages are unaffected. BT added that those impacted should "switch off wi-fi and use mobile data to access their email".
"Email is not working. What is problem? When will it be fixed?" wrote one user, Paul Hough, who tagged the provider in a post on X. "Unable to login BT Email. Getting the message 'BT Server Outage. Try again later'," said another customer.
A BT spokesperson said: "Earlier today some BT email customers were unable to access their email. The issue has been resolved and we’re very sorry for any inconvenience caused. No other BT services were impacted."
It appears the issue began earlier this morning, with many people taking to social media to express their frustration. According to the website Down Detector, which tracks outages, more than 90 per cent of the reported problems relate to email.
