Mar 15, 2025

Nic Berry takes control of a mammoth clash in the Welsh capital.

Wales face England at the Principality Stadium on Super Saturday.
England are aiming to win the Six Nations title in Cardiff, but will be relying on results in other games to decide their fate. Nevertheless, they must beat Wales well to have any hope of nicking it.
Here's everything you need to know the referee for the game, Nic Berry.

Who is Nic Berry?

41-year-old Australian Berry is a former professional rugby player.
The World Rugby official played at Queensland Reds, Racing 92 and London Wasps, before his playing career was cut short in 2013 due to a number of concussions.
He began refereeing two years later before making it to the Super Rugby panel in 2016. A first refereeing career milestone came in 2017 when he officiated the U20’s World Championships final, before making it onto the World Rugby panel later that year, officiating his first senior Test match - Samoa v Scotland.
Berry took control of his first Tier One clash in 2018 in a match between Ireland and Argentina, before refereeing his first Six Nations in 2019 - where Wales won the Grand Slam. He went on to referee at the 2023 World Cup in France and officiated in the third palce play-off.

Emotional reaction after personal loss

Following Argentina's 19-10 victory against Samoa in the pool stages of the 2023 World Cup, Berry was in tears due to a personal tragedy.
