Stabbings, shootings and ugly scenes erupt during week of violence in Greater Manchester
Mar 15, 2025
A string of 'targeted' incidents have plagued our streets - with the culprits still at large
Families have been shattered and neighbours rocked after a wave of violence erupted during an ugly week for Greater Manchester. On three consecutive nights, residents heard the sound of sirens and saw their estates being sealed off by police tape.
Four brutal incidents have been reported by the Manchester Evening News this week - each one raising alarm for the communities they affected.
Two men and two women were stabbed in Manchester, during two separate incidents over a period of just 36 hours.
And gunmen opened fire twice in three nights, during incidents police believe to be targeted. No arrests have been made in connection with any of the offences so far.
Greater Manchester Police has told the M.E.N. that none of the incidents are believed to be linked.
Two men were taken to hospital for treatment after suffering 'superficial stab injuries', while police were called out to reports of people carrying weapons.
Violent scenes affected areas of Cheetham Hill, Crumpsall and Broughton - with footage showing armed police in the area.
The M.E.N. understands the violence followed a flare-up between two rival gangs.
One witness, who saw two youths arrested on Esmond Road in Cheetham Hill, said: "Something is happening every single day. We hear warnings to be careful at night when we go to prayers at the mosque."
