EastEnders fans are predicting that an unlikely character has the potential to be the 'greatest villain ever' following a major twist in Albert Square.

Introduced last year, along with his sons Harry and Barney Mitchell, Teddy Mitchell appeared to be a happy-go-lucky dad who just wanted his children to be happy.

A cloud of mystery surrounded the latest batch of Mitchells upon their arrival, with Harry's ex-girlfriend Shireen revealed to have gone missing under suspicious circumstances.

Once Harry's name was in the clear, Teddy began a period of good fortune in his new Walford home, falling in love and beginning to date Sharon Watts.

Sadly in soaps, things can't stay good forever, with the arrival of Teddy's estranged wife Nicola Mitchell resulting in a number of the character's most explosive storylines to date.

Nicola is currently in a battle to stop Teddy from finding out that his beloved Barney isn't actually his son, with Zack Hudson recently revealed to be the teenager's biological father.

Despite Teddy not knowing this, he learned this week that Sharon cheated on him with her ex-husband Grant Mitchell during Ross Kemp's brief return to the BBC soap last month.

Showing a rare violent side in scenes aired on Wednesday night (March 12), Teddy began shouting and smashed a glass, cutting his hand, before later getting into a fist-fight with Zack, who tried to defend his sister Sharon.
