On a March 12 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the 50-year-old star mentioned her reduction mammoplasty in the '90s during a conversation about breast cancer awareness.
Drew was joined by board-certified OB-GYN Dr. Kameelah Phillips, lifestyle maven and contributor Valerie Bertinelli, and Inside Edition host Alison Hall, who opened up about her breast cancer diagnosis in 2024.

After actor Olivia Munn shared her story about her own breast cancer journey, the producers of Inside Edition assigned Alison to visit a breast cancer doctor in New York City, where she learned through the Breast Cancer Assessment Test that she was at high risk.

Through scheduling yearly mammograms and MRIs, Alison learned she had breast cancer. Although her preventative care allowed her to discover this "at stage zero," she chose to undergo a double mastectomy with reconstruction.
It was Alison's story surrounding her cancer diagnosis and the importance of preventative care, like yearly mammograms, that prompted Drew's rare mention of her surgery.
