CT high school boys, girls basketball championships are set
Mar 13, 2025
The state high school boys and girls basketball championship matchups are set with games to be played Saturday and Sunday at Mohegan Sun Arena.
The boys tournaments held to form for the most part, with the top seeds advancing to the final in four of the five divisions.
The Sheehan boys have become the story of the tournament, advancing to the Division IV final as the No. 23 seed. The Titans managed just eight wins in the regular season but got hot at the right time, knocking off No. 2 Aerospace, No. 6 New Fairfield, No. 7 Cromwell and No. 10 Woodland to reach the championship game. But top seed and undefeated Ellington awaits on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
The girls side had equally consistent tournaments with three No. 1s and two No. 2s advancing to the finals. The lowest-rated seeds in any of the five championship matchups is a No. 4. The chalk held up perfectly in two matchups — Class L and MM — where the top two seeds will meet to decide the championship.
The schedule for championship weekend:

Division I: No. 5 St. Bernard vs. No. 2 Notre Dame-West Haven, Saturday, 8:15 p.m.
Division II: No. 3 New London vs. No. 1 Manchester, Sunday, 8:15 p.m.
Division III: No. 7 Fitch vs. No. 1 Bunnell, Saturday, 3 p.m.
Division IV: No. 23 Sheehan vs. No. 1 Ellington, Sunday, 12:30 p.m.
