Best mosquito repellent bracelets for holidays: Top picks reviewed
Mar 13, 2025
While you might be a fan of a souvenir or two, it’s unlikely that you’ll want to return home from your trip with itchy red bites up and down your limbs.
But, if you’re heading somewhere tropical and you’re blessed with sweeter blood, there’s a fair to reasonable chance you’ll make friends with a mosquito or two unless you take the right precautions.
Mosquito repellent is great but, if you’ve got sensitive skin and/or don’t like spraying yourself thoroughly every few hours, a more localised solution, like a repellent bracelet, might be a saviour.
Navin Khosla, Pharmacist at NowPatient says: “Mosquitoes are attracted to the carbon dioxide produced by humans and animals, as well as sweat and dark clothing. When travelling to places where mosquitoes are common, it’s advised to spray your skin and clothes with an insect repellent which contains DEET”.

How does DEET work?

“The potent smell of DEET masks the scent of carbon dioxide, deterring mosquitos from your skin”, Khosla explains. “Due to high concentrations of DEET being harmful to the skin if worn for long periods, these repellant sprays contain a low concentration, meaning you will need to re-apply this spray regularly for it to be effective.
“For some, this consistent application of repellant spray is inconvenient, and therefore they might seek alternative methods of deterring the insect.”
