ITV Coronation Street confirms arrival of three new characters after fan fury over exits
Mar 10, 2025
Coronation Street has announced the arrival of three new male characters to the cobbles, as the soap prepares for the exit of several major characters in the coming months
Weatherfield is set to welcome a fresh trio of male characters to Coronation Street, following the announcement that several cast members are leaving the show. Earlier this year, Colson Smith (Craig Tinker), Sue Cleaver (Eileen Grimshaw), Charlotte Jordan (Daisy Midgeley), Luca Toolan (Mason Radcliffe), and Shelley King (Yasmeen Metcalfe) all revealed their plans to depart.
The first new face to join the cobbles will be James Bailey, formerly portrayed by Nathan Graham. He's scheduled to make his return to the soap on March 17.
Taking over the role is Silent Witness actor Jason Callender, who will portray James visiting his sister Dee-Dee Bailey, played by Channique Sterling-Brown, after spending time in the US with his partner Danny. "James is bringing a lot of warmth, a little bit of love, charisma and a little bit of charm," Callender shared about his character.
Another newcomer, Theo Silverton, will be brought to life by The Archers' James Cartwright. His character, who arrives on March 25, quickly finds himself at odds with Julie Carp, played by Katy Cavanagh, and Tony Maudsley's George Shuttleworth.
However, Todd Grimshaw, portrayed by Gareth Pierce, steps in to offer him assistance. Cartwright commented on his role, saying: "I think Theo is a good guy, he comes in with the best of intentions, as most people do, but he may upset some people with his behaviour."
