How Much Benni McCarthy Will Earn As Harambee Stars Head Coach Emerges
Mar 4, 2025
Well, after months of intense rumours and speculation, Benni McCarthy was officially unveiled as the new head coach of Harambee Stars.
As far as big names who have been in charge of the men's national team go, McCarthy's name is certainly set to rank highly given the impressive CV that precedes him.
Who is Benni McCarthy?
McCarthy was a revered striker during his playing days, starring in the famous Jose Mourinho team that won the 2004 UEFA Champions League.
He has also had stints at Blackburn Rovers, Celta Vigo, Ajax, among other clubs. After retirement, he ventured into coaching where he was in charge of Cape Town City and Amazulu in his home land before serving as a first-team coach at Manchester United.

Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi reports that sources within the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) have informed him the South African international will take home approximately 17,000 USD (2.2 million Kenya Shillings).
FKF CEO Harold Ndege promised to provide the actual figures in the contract in the coming days.
Despite the amount looking like a tidy sum on paper, it is a far cry from what he reportedly earned as one of Erik ten Hag's assistants in Manchester.
Our sister publication in South Africa, Briefly.co.za, reports that McCarthy earned approximately £40,500 weekly, which translated to £162,000 monthly (around 26.5 million Kenya Shillings).
