Davante Adams landing spots: Steelers, Broncos among top options for WR after being cut by Jets
Mar 4, 2025
Since the end of the Jets' season, it's been indicated that the team is ready to move on from the Aaron Rodgers era. Continuing that trend, New York is now cutting ties with veteran wide receiver Davante Adams.
Adams joined New York midway through a disappointing 2024 season via a trade with the Raiders, with the Jets hoping his arrival would bring a jolt to a struggling offense. With Adams having prior chemistry with Rodgers from their time in Green Bay, New York swung the deal to give its veteran quarterback a stronger receiving corps to work with.
The trade didn't wind up improving the Jets' outlook. They finished the season 5-12, now in a strange position with established talent on the roster but disappointing results. With New York heading into a pivotal offseason, the team has already made its intentions of cutting Rodgers clear; Adams, part of the Rodgers connections in New York, is also falling victim to the Jets' overhaul.
Now, the 32-year-old wide receiver, who totaled 1,063 receiving yards in 2024, is free to join the team of his liking. After eight years with the Packers, Adams has spent two and a half seasons with the Raiders and half a season with the Jets. In free agency, he'll undoubtedly be linked to Rodgers' free-agent destination, as the duo is often viewed as a package deal.
