Mavericks season ticket prices, explained: Why Dallas fans are upset after latest news in post-Luka Doncic era
Mar 4, 2025
Business is business, but if you want an example of a masterclass in a PR nightmare, you won't have to look further than what the Mavericks have done since the beginning of February.
It started with a surprise trade. Moves can happen any time ahead of the trade deadline, but early trades tend to be on the quiet side. That changed on Feb. 7 when, in one of the most surprising trades in NBA history, Dallas sent fan-favorite guard Luka Doncic to the Lakers. The Mavericks got back soon-to-be 32-year-old Anthony Davis, guard Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round pick. Los Angeles also received Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris. The Jazz were also involved to help facilitate salaries.
Mavericks fans were instantly incensed, leading to protests outside the stadium in Dallas. They were calling for the Adelson-Dumont family to sell the franchise and for general manager Nico Harrison to be fired. Fans would even chant or yell during games, leading to some notable ejections from Mavs games.
Boos for the front office are likely only going to get louder. On Monday, the Mavericks front office announced to season-ticket holders that prices would be going up by an average of 8.61% next season.

Mavericks season ticket price increase, explained

Many Mavericks fans already felt like the franchise's owners and general manager only cared about business in the wake of the Doncic trade, but that sentiment was taken to another level on Monday when the Mavs announced that they will be raising season-ticket prices next season.
