In February 2025, a rumor took over social media alleging that a University of Mississippi student named Mary Kate Cornett had allegedly cheated on her boyfriend, Evan, with his own father.

The claims first spread online from a photo of someone’s phone showing a series of messages on SnapChat, which detailed a supposed affair between Mary Kate and Evan’s father.

According to the message, Mary Kate attended a basketball game for Evan’s little sister alongside his dad. After the game was over, the message states they “went to like dinner and drinks, and he was buying her drinks and stuff, and then they like got with each other or something.”

The alleged cheating scandal has become a full-blown viral sensation over the last few days — and Mary Kate has finally offered a statement sharing her side of the story.

A Facebook post published by Mary Kate’s father, Justin Cornett, dubbed the scandal surrounding his daughter as a “totally and categorically false, malicious, organized cyber attack.”

Her father also stated that Mary Kate has been doxxed, forcing her family to “take protective measures to ensure her safety.”
