Ginebra steamrolls past NorthPort, grabs 2-0 semis lead

Barangay Ginebra took a 2-0 bulge after dominating NorthPort, 119-106, in Game 2 of their PBA Season 49 Commissioner's Cup best-of-seven semifinal series on Friday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The Gin Kings led by 13 points at the close of the opening frame and tore the game wide open when they outscored the Batang Pier, 33-17, in the second period en route to a 68-39 halftime advantage.
Ginebra managed to sustain its fiery offense in the second half, padding the lead to as high as 34 points before coasting to its second straight lopsided win in the series.
Japeth Aguilar had a monster outing of 31 points and eight rebounds, serving as Ginebra's main anchor both on offense and defense.
Jamie Malonzo came off the bench to add 17 points.
Scottie Thompson added 16 points four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Troy Rosario had a near double-double of 11 and eight boards, while rookie RJ Abarrientos churned out a little of everything with his 11 markers, six assists and five rebounds for the Gin Kings.

Ginebra import Justin Brownlee didn't have to score that much, acting more as facilitator and finished with 10 points and 11 assists.
A welcome sight for Ginebra was the return of Jeremiah Gray, who played for the first time in nearly two years, finishing with six points and two rebounds.
