Police investigating an acid attack on a young man in Greenbank have said they are working with officers from the National Crime Agency as part of their investigation. Two men forced their way into a property in Lipson Road at around 3.55am on Friday, February 21. Once inside they are said to have seriously injured a man aged in his 20s in what police have called a "targeted" acid attack.
Officers remained at the scene for a number of days with Crime Scene Investigators wearing white forensic suits being seen entering and leaving the property for much of the weekend. The victim remains in a serious condition at an undisclosed hospital and it has since been confirmed that acid was used during the attack to inflict his injuries.
Investigators from Devon and Cornwall Police have now revealed the suspect the case is linked to "organised crime" and are working with the National Crime Agency, which has previously described itself as carrying out a similar role in the UK as the Federal Bureau of Investigations does in the USA.
