It happened Just Outside Parirenyatwa Hospital In Harare, See What Happened That Got Many Talking
Feb 23, 2025
In a significant development for Zimbabwe healthcare system the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals in Harare has reopened its radiotherapy center after a two-year hiatus caused by malfunctioning equipment. This move is set to provide much-needed relief to cancer patients nationwide who have struggled to access affordable treatment during the center's closure.
The radiotherapy center operations were suspended due to equipment failures, compelling many patients to seek costly alternatives abroad or forgo treatment entirely. Dr. Simba Munyoro the hospital's Chief Medical Officer expressed optimism about the resumption of services
We are pleased to inform the public that Parirenyatwa Hospital radiotherapy center is now fully operational again. The repairs on our radiotherapy machines have been successfully completed and we are ready to provide the much-needed treatment to our patients.
The reopening of the center is a critical milestone in enhancing the hospital's oncology services. During the closure, patients faced prolonged waiting periods and were often required to travel long distances for radiotherapy incurring significant personal and financial burdens. The restored functionality of the center equipment is expected to improve patient outcomes and alleviate the strain on other healthcare facilities.
