Revised Senior High School curriculum to be implemented this school year — Angara
Feb 20, 2025
The Department of Education (DepEd) plans to roll out the revised curriculum for Grades 11 and 12, or the Senior High School (SHS) Program, this coming School Year (SY) 2025-2026.
“Maganda ang takbo (It is going well),” DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara said when asked for updates on the revision of the SHS curriculum on the sidelines of the DepEd Human Resource and Organizational Development (HROD) Convention in Pasay City on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
“Maganda ang reception ng ating mga eskwelahan (The reception in our schools has been positive),” Angara said.
“Natutuwa sila dahil mababawasan ang mga subjects, at pati yung mga estudyante natutuwa at yung mga teachers (They are happy because the number of subjects will be reduced, which will benefit both students and teachers),” he added.
Angara noted that the implementation of the revised SHS curriculum will start this coming school year but will be done in phases.
“So this coming school year, meron naman na (it will already be implemented),” he explained. “Pero hindi natin mamadaliin dahil, syempre, yung iba't-ibang eskwelahan may kanya-kanyang kakayahan para mag-enforce nito (However, we won’t rush it because, of course, different schools have varying capacities to enforce it),” he added.
Angara said DepEd is considering the capacities of schools, as most will likely need to hire new staff and prepare the curriculum.
