Miguna Miguna Wants President Ruto Sanctioned By United Nations (UN) Because Of The Following Reason
Feb 19, 2025
Kenyan lawyer and political activist Dr. Miguna Miguna has urged the United Nations (UN) and its Secretary General, António Guterres, to impose sanctions on President William Ruto over alleged support for Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF), also known as Janjaweed.
In a statement posted on his social media platform X (formerly referred to as Twitter), Dr. Miguna accused President Ruto of openly backing the RSF, which is led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, commonly known as Hemeti.
He claimed that the RSF, which has been indicted by the International Criminal Court (ICC), is responsible for widespread devastation, displacement, and the deaths of millions of civilians in Sudan.
The RSF has been at the center of Sudan’s ongoing conflict, with reports linking the group to war crimes and human rights violations.
The group, initially formed from the Janjaweed militias, has been engaged in a violent struggle for power against Sudan’s military.
The conflict has led to a humanitarian crisis, with thousands killed and millions displaced.
Dr. Miguna’s remarks add to the growing criticism against President Ruto’s foreign policy approach, particularly regarding Kenya’s engagement in Sudan’s crisis.
While the Kenyan government has not officially responded to the allegations, the accusations raise concerns about the country’s role in regional conflicts.
