Jordan Spieth was disqualified as Genesis Invitational as Scottie Scheffler had meltdown
Feb 16, 2025
The Genesis Invitational is one of the most highly-anticipated tournaments on the PGA Tour calendar, and while the 2025 event has been one of little drama, the 2024 tournament was anything but quiet
Jordan Spieth, Tiger Woods, and Scottie Scheffler each made waves at the 2024 Genesis Invitational for a variety of reasons.
As the 2025 iteration of the annual golf tournament concludes at Torrey Pines South on Sunday, Mirror US Sport revisits some of the most memorable moments from last year's event. This week's edition of the prestigious competition has seen Patrick Rodgers climb to the top of the leaderboards after an impressive performance on San Diego's fairways and greens.
He currently holds a one-stroke lead at -8 heading into Sunday's final round. However, Denny McCarthy is hot on his heels, while Ludvig Aberg trails by two strokes in third place. Meanwhile, Davis Thompson, Tony Finau, Tommy Fleetwood, and Patrick Cantlay are all still vying for the trophy, but they'll need to overcome a four-stroke deficit if they hope to emerge victorious, all while hoping that Rodgers stumbles in his final round.
While the performances have been outstanding at the event, it has been relatively drama-free compared to the excitement that unfolded at last year's tournament. But what transpired with Spieth, Woods, and Scheffler last February that caused such a commotion?
