Teen Jasvil Rokoro debuts for Fiji women’s cricket side
Feb 13, 2025
At just 16 years old, Jasvil Rokoro is set to make her senior international debut as part of Fiji’s national women’s cricket team in the inaugural Four Nations tournament T20 series in New Caledonia.
The Suva Grammar School student is one of three debutants in the squad, marking a significant milestone in her cricket journey.
Rokoro, who hails from Bemana in Nadroga and has maternal ties to Natauloa began playing in the Suva senior women’s league at just 11 years old.
She was part of Nausori Majidez in 2020 before moving to Suva Grammar in 2023, where she played for both the boys’ and girls’ under-19 teams.
Last year at just 15, she became the youngest member of Fiji’s maiden U19 women’s cricket team that competed in the World Cup qualifier in Bali, Indonesia.
Her journey into cricket started with her parents forming a women’s team in Nausori to provide opportunities for girls in their area.
She initially joined as a water girl but trained with plastic gear before making her league debut when the team was short of players.
Now, Rokoro is eager to learn and grow from this international experience.
“For me, this tournament is about improving my game as an all-rounder and learning as much as I can,” she said.
The tournament serves as preparation for the World Cup qualifier that Fiji will host in September, with the team aiming to improve its world ranking.
