Dec 21, 2024
The 64-bit era of video games started in the 1990s with the release of the Nintendo 64. Back then, more bits were equated with better graphics and whatnot. This notion reached a peculiar zenith with the release of the PlayStation 2, which Sony advertised as being 128-bit.
Evidently, 128-bit video gaming may never come into vogue, given stagnating technological advancements and no significant gains from 128-bit home computing. However, the vast majority of players are comfortable sticking with the reliable 64-bit status quo. With consoles like the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, there's no one to judge.
