Dormaahene In Trouble For Allegedly Providing Fake Gazette To Wenchi-Hene
Sep 13, 2024
A traditional dispute is brewing in the Bono Region of Ghana, where the Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, has found himself at the center of controversy. Allegations have emerged that the revered chief may have provided a fake gazette to the Wenchi-Hene, sparking a fierce debate and raising concerns over the integrity of traditional leadership in the region.
The issue came to light after several chiefs and stakeholders in the Bono Region accused the Dormaahene of playing a role in the distribution of a fraudulent gazette, an official document that recognizes and legitimizes the authority of traditional rulers in Ghana. The Wenchi-Hene, Nana Anye Amo-Ampong Tabrako II, is said to have used the disputed document to assert his claim to certain lands and privileges in the region, which has led to tension among neighboring traditional areas.
At the heart of the dispute is a claim that the Dormaahene, a respected figure in Ghana’s chieftaincy affairs and a known advocate for peace and justice, provided the Wenchi-Hene with a document that falsely confirmed his status and boundaries as a recognized chief in the eyes of the National House of Chiefs. The authenticity of the gazette has since been called into question by several traditional leaders in the Bono Region, who argue that it was improperly issued and could disrupt the longstanding territorial agreements between traditional stools.
