Pastor Sylvester Ofori, originally from Ghana, will spend the rest of his life in prison after being convicted of first- degree murder by a U. S. court. The pastor gained international attention in 2020 when he shot his wife, Barbara Tommey, seven times, leading to her tragic death. This shocking incident took place at the Navy Federal Credit Union near the Mall at Millenia in Orlando, Florida.
On the day of the murder, Barbara Tommey, 27, was simply going about her day when her husband, Sylvester Ofori, confronted her outside the credit union where she worked. Without warning, he fired multiple shots, taking her life in a matter of seconds. The incident was witnessed by several people, leaving them horrified and in disbelief.
Sylvester was quickly apprehended by law enforcement and taken into custody at the Orange County Jail. The Orlando Police Department confirmed his arrest through a public announcement on social media, ensuring the community that justice would be sought for Barbara' s untimely death.
Prior to this tragic event, Sylvester Ofori was known as a preacher who had relocated to the United States with his wife. They were initially seen as a couple with a promising future. However, reports later revealed that their marriage had been troubled, with instances of domestic disputes and tension.
