Purity Ngirici's woes: Kirinyaga woman rep says her removal from KEWOPA unconstitutional

Kirinyaga woman representative Purity Ngirici has rubbished her removal from the chair of Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) on Tuesday, July 7.
Ngirici termed the ejection from the plum position as unlawful and said it did not abide by KEWOPA Constitution.
In a statement, the legislator said the special meeting that was held to oust her was improperly convened and did not follow the procedure according to the association's law.
She said the members had not received the notice of the meeting and reiterated that the incumbent leadership was still in office until the end of their parliamentary terms.
"I have not given any notice of resignation, neither have I been notified in writing or even verbally of any gross grounds that may warrant my expulsion," Ngirici said.
The William Ruto ally said the 65 out 97 members that voted for her removal were in violation clause five of which stated that the society shall resolve by a two-third majority of all the members of the society that a member shall be expelled.
