A new era has dawned on Woodlands Stadium with telecommunication giant MTN acquiring the naming rights to the refurbished facility over a three-year period.
During a signing ceremony at Woodlands Stadium, MTN Chief Executive Officer, Bart Hofker said the K1.5 million deal was an affirmation of MTN’s reputation as the number one supporter of the game in Zambia.
“As MTN Zambia, we pledge our continued support to the development of football in the country by providing financial and material support,” Hofker said.
Forli Limited Chief Executive Officer, Diego Casilli said the deal marked a milestone in the history of the game in Zambia.
“MTN Zambia’s endorsement of the refurbished stadium was greatly appreciated not only by City of Lusaka Football Club but by Forli Limited, who are the developers of the stadium,” Casilli said.
Meanwhile FAZ president Andrew Kamanga heaped praise on MTN for their longstanding partnership with the game in Zambia.
Kamanga said MTN had proved an all-weather partner to the game through the sponsorship of the Super League and National Team.
After the signing ceremony Kamanga and Casilli took a brief tour of the facility and interacted with some City of Lusaka players who were having their morning training session.
