Feb. 09, 2020
Puri Shankaracharya Swami Nishalananda Saraswati has come out in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act but at the same time, he has criticized the central government for the protests as Shankaracharya claims that the protests were held across the country just because of the poor communication that the government failed to deliver to people.
While speaking to the media Guru Shankaracharya said, “There are 204 countries in the world, most of them are officially Christian and Islamic countries”. He further said, “At present there are no Hindu nations. Hence, it is the responsibility of the United Nations to declare India, Nepal and Bhutan as Hindu nations in the first phase. Hindus, who are being persecuted in other countries should be rehabilitated in these three countries”.
Saraswati said that people who are suffering from religious persecution in different countries should be allowed to live in India . Persecuted people should be given a right to live a happy life in India and they should be given Indian Citizenship under the newly amended bill .
A special judiciary should be formed by the United Nations that can make the right decision for the persecuted people, he said. Urging the UN to make India a Hindu Nation, Jagad Guru Shankaracharya said, “This law should be openly supported, but the government has definitely failed in controlling the protests that occurred in many parts of the nation after the CAB was passed”. Speaking on CAA, Puri Shankaracharya said, “The present violence and unrest could have been avoided if adequate steps were taken for proper consultations, discussions, and awareness before its enactment.”
The government should have held discussions with other parties over the CAA before bringing the bill. India has witnessed several violent protests across the nation since the Citizenship amendment bill was passed by the Parliament . The Biju Janata Dal, which voted for CAA, also came forward to support the National Population Register (NPR), said that it was not a new exercise.
Not just Puri Shankaracharya supported the law but Israel also came forward to support the law. Israel said, “India as a sovereign nation has the right in enacting the CAA and it is the internal matter of India”. Indian Spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev also supported the citizenship act. Speaking about the ongoing protests in India over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Sadhguru said, “No one would want to invest in a place where buses are burning on the streets”.
When asked about the nationwide protests against the CAA , Sadhguru said the problem arose just because of the poor communication that the government failed to deliver to people.
