Barcelona ‘failed in bid to re-sign Andres Iniesta’ from Vissel Kobe during January transfer window
Feb. 09, 2020
Barcelona reportedly tried to re-sign club legend Andres Iniesta on loan during January.
Iniesta left Barca in 2018 following a glittering career that included 32 trophies and 674 appearances.
He went on to sign a three-year contract with Japanese side Vissel Kobe.
Spanish publication Sport claim Barcelona got in contact with the 35-year-old over a possible short-term deal.
Vissel Kobe were less than keen to see their star man leave as he still has two years left on his contract and the Asian Champions League starts soon.
He is the club captain and is clearly an integral member of their squad.

The talks did not progress any further and Iniesta stayed in Japan. He helped them win the Japanese Super Cup this weekend in a match that saw nine penalties missed in a shootout.
Barcelona manager Quique Setien even hinted at the possibility they may look at bringing the club legend back to Spain.
In an interview with Barca TV he was asked which legend he’d like to add to the current team.
He replied: “Iniesta, although he hasn’t retired… maybe we could still bring him back.”
