Harry Redknapp slams Everton following defeat to Burnley
Oct. 07, 2019
The pressure is mounting on Marco Silva at Everton because his team are heading into the international break sitting in the relegation zone.
Harry Redknapp has labelled Everton as a 'very average team' as he ripped into Marco Silva's side following their defeat to Burnley over the weekend.
It was another flat performance from Everton, who once again showed their incapabilities of defending from set-piece situations.
Sean Dyche's men won the weekend encounter 1-0, with Jeff Hendrick, who was completely unmarked at the far post, guiding his shot into the back of the net following a corner.
Speaking to BT Sport , Redknapp didn't hold back in his criticism of the Toffees , as he questioned who is working with the players on set-piece drills because he feels the marking is 'scandalous'.
“I don't think they have recruited well,” Redknapp told BT Sport. “They have spent big money and they look a very average team. Very average team. I don't really see where they are going. They aren't certainly going forward.
On Everton's defending from set-pieces: “Well, that's just scandalous marking. We talk about great coaches, they have all the equipment in the world, they are all looking at their iPads, sitting on the touchline.
“We used to write it on the wife's shopping list. On the back of the shipping list about set-plays. Who hasn't organised them to go and pick up? Everybody has a job. When you are a coach and manager, them players have to know what they're doing from set-plays.”
The Premier League table isn't pretty reading if you are an Everton supporter because on top of their defeat at Turf Moor, other results over the weekend did go against them.
It means that they are currently sitting in the relegation zone after eight matches, with a serious amount of pressure on Silva's shoulders.
After the international break, Everton have a home clash against West Ham, with more defeats only increasing the pressure on Silva.
