Eid Kabir: Buhari sends 7 powerful messages to all Muslims in his Sallah address

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Saturday, August 10, sent a message out to all Muslims in the country in celebration of Sallah.
In the message, the president commented on vital issues in the country such as security as he urged Muslims on the need for peace, among other things.

1. Islam is a religion of peace
The president called on all Muslims to do away with violence as the religion they practice is that of peace. He said that actions that give Islam a bad name should be shunned.
2. Violent extremism is Islam’s greatest challenge
Buhari said that violent extremism is the greatest challenge facing Islam presently. He advised that the best way to deal with that is to stay away and dissociate from actions and ideas that support extremism.
3. Protect your children from extremists
The president charged parents to protect their children against extremists as they tend to manipulate children.
4. Boko Haram became because of indifference
The president said the reason the terrorist organization became big was because Muslims were indifferent to the activities of extreme preachers who manipulate naïve followers.
5. Terrorism and other criminal activities will be dealt with
The president assured Nigerians that terrorism and other forms crime will be dealt with by his administration until there is a final solution to the unrest.

6. Buhari acknowledged occasional setback in fight against Boko Haram
He said though they have been “occasional setbacks”, the nation's military has weakened them as they are no longer in control of any part of the country.
7. Protection of Nigerians is a must
He also submitted that the protection of Nigerians is a must as the country’s armed forces are more equipped, trained and motivated to protect the nation’s citizens.
