Erik woe Paul Scholes says Man Utd missed a trick not signing Christian Eriksen

MANCHESTER UNITED missed a trick in not signing Tottenham star Christian Eriksen as he would have made a 'big difference' to the side.
Those are the thoughts of Red Devils legend Paul Scholes.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer kept tabs on the Danish midfielder, 27, and United were willing to pay £80million for his services.
The Danish midfielder has also been on Real Madrid's radar, but SunSport claim he could end up staying at Spurs.
While United clinched deals for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Daniel James, Eriksen was one that got away.
And Scholes - who appeared as a guest on Radio 5 Live - thinks Eriksen was exactly what they needed.
He said: "I was quite excited when Christian Eriksen got mentioned.
“He could have made a big difference to United in the way [Kevin] De Bruyne plays for City, creating chances and scoring goals.
“They haven't got that but they have some good players so the target is top four and I think they will make it.”
He added: "It is a worry for me, the centre-forward position.
“They have got players like [Marcus] Rashford and [Anthony] Martial, [Mason] Greenwood, but are they really No.9s?
“We have to wait and see. I think they are flipping between being a wide player and being a centre forward.
“They are yet to prove they can score 25-30 goals a season.”
United kick off their Premier League campaign at home to Chelsea tomorrow (4.30pm).
