Machakos: Woman Burnt To Death, Husband And Son Injured By Relatives Over Land Dispute
Aug 5, 2020
Five family members in Machakos County are in custody in connection to an arson attack that’s led to the death of a 55-year-old woman. The incident was sparked by a land dispute which has also left her husband and son with serious injuries. Juliana Mwikali had lived in Kathuma village in Kyambuko area, Machakos County, for more than 20 years. Presently, the interior of her house is  soot-filled, following the arson. “Tulimtoa akiwa amechomeka saana lakini mkono na mguu alikuwa amefungwa na binding wire… kwa hivo inaonekana walimchoma akiwa amefungwa,” a neighbour narrated.
The alleged arson attack was partly witnessed by Jackson Makau, her son, who recalls his cousins and uncles waking him up at dawn last Saturday with blows. “Wakanipiga ile mbaya sana tena wakanikata kata nikawa unconscious,” Makau explained. The relatives appeared hell bent on wiping out the family.  They, supposedly, attacked Mwikali’s husband, Nelson Ngui, too. Nelson can’t comprehend that the children  he raised as his own are out to wipe out his whole family from existence.
