A middle-aged man from Kakamega County on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, died in his private vehicle at Amalemba trading centre, which is located on the outskirts of Kakamega Town.
“We found him on the driver’s seat with his head tilted upward. He was still breathing. However, we couldn’t help him because he was not wearing a face mask. We feared he could have succumbed to COVID-19,” an eye witness told K24 Digital.
“Police officers arrived at the scene over 30 minutes later, when they found the man had already died.”
Another eyewitness said the man, who was driving towards Vihiga side from Kakamega, parked his vehicle on the roadside at Amalemba trading centre at 4:30pm, and “failed to move an inch, thereafter”.
Another one, said she was shocked by the man’s death.
“In my entire life, I have never seen a man dying at the wheel. There is more to his death,” said Eunice.
Reports indicate that the deceased was moved to Kakamega County Referral Hospital morgue as investigations into his death commence.
The man has been identified as an Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) employee, who was in charge of organising the annual event in Kakamega County.
