Feb. 11, 2020
Workers from Nakuru and Nandi counties have been granted an extra day off to enable them to attend the burial of former president Daniel Moi on Wednesday.
Moi’s burial will take place at his Kabarak home in Nakuru.
The national government had declared that Tuesday would be a public holiday during the memorial service for Moi held at the Nyayo National Stadium.
In a press statement, governor Lee Kinyajui of Nakuru and Nandi’s Stephen Sang called on the county employees to attend the funeral service.
According to Kinanjui, the move was arrived at to enable the workers' bid farewell to Moi who resided in the county.
However, workers in departments like health and emergency response will remain on duty.
On his part, governor Sang stated that Nandi county workers who wish to be part of the service can take a day off.
He said the move was in appreciation of the great work the former president spearheaded in the county.
