Despite Sluggish Start, Ferrari Confident of its Ambitions with the 2020 F1 Season
Aug 14, 2020
The Scuderia Ferrari team has not experienced the best of starts in the 2020 season. Poor old Charles Leclerc has been single-handedly trying to bump up the team, while Sebastian Vettel is struggling.
The higher-ups even confessed that we may not see a Ferrari win until at least 2022. Recently, team boss Mattia Binotto spoke to Motorsport.com in an interview.
He said, “There are limitations that have an impact on a project that today has a performance disadvantage compared to the best. I think we can improve on our part, but aspiring to be able to beat Mercedes I think it is somehow wrong.
“Because today the gap is huge considering we are in Formula 1. But second place must absolutely be considered a possible goal.”
Even though aiming for second is a respectable goal, things will be awfully difficult for the Maranello squad . This is largely because the car has struggled to keep up with its rivals.
So, Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel have to pray for other teams to make mistakes or benefit from exceptional circumstances. This is as long as they themselves remain trouble-free.
Can Ferrari grab 2nd in the championship?
Realistically, Ferrari has the capability of beating Red Bull to 2nd place in the Constructors’ Championship. Max Verstappen has been consistent for Red Bull, but Alexander Albon has been blowing hot and cold.
